My op-ed on Dave Foohey in the Ottawa Citizen

The Ottawa Citizen has run my op-ed talking about the death of my dear friend Dave Foohey. It’s in both the print edition (July 4, 2022) as well as online (at https://ottawacitizen.com/opinion/julien). This is an adaption of my longer piece about Dave that I wrote in May.

One of the challenges of writing op-eds is keeping them succinct and to the point. My original piece was roughly 5,000 words. The op-ed is about 800 words, or about an 84% decrease. Yikes.

I think (well, hope) that my love for Dave and the quandary of mental illness still shines through.
